Gemayel Demands Investigation into Rabweh Fire Amid Civil Defense Efforts

Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel, held a phone call with General Director of Civil Defense, Brigadier General Raymond Khattar to stay informed about the latest developments regarding the Rabweh fire, which has expanded to the Nabieh Valley - Beit Misk area, the last remaining green space in the region.

Khattar informed Gemayel that the fire was likely intentional, with the theory being reinforced by the fact that fires have erupted in geographically distant areas.

Khattar also noted that he had requested the relevant authorities to investigate and identify those responsible.

He mentioned that Cypriot authorities had offered to assist in extinguishing the fires and were preparing to send specialized aircraft, expected to arrive today.

For his part, Gemayel praised the Civil Defense personnel for their tremendous efforts, noting that during this difficult period, they have taken on the challenging task of firefighting, working day and night for three consecutive days.

He stressed the need for security forces to fulfill their responsibilities by immediately uncovering the truth behind these incidents. Should any form of involvement be confirmed, those responsible must be identified and held accountable without leniency, given the severe consequences these actions have on the region’s nature and rapidly disappearing green spaces.
