Kataeb lawmaker Nadim Gemayel on Tuesday deemed civil marriage as a gateway to equality between the Lebanese.

"I am with the absolute freedom of humans and citizens and that every person was free to decide his state of belonging, giving, and loving," Gemayel said in an interview with LBCI.

"An individual’s personal freedom is preserved by the Constitution, and not a social class shall be subjected to marginalization for being different. On the contrary, all individuals shall be supported and encouraged to engage in society," he later tweeted.

"A culture of acceptance and embracing otherness is fundamental to scale up and advance,” he added.
