Gemayel: Ain el-Helweh Clashes Are a Natural Consequence of Militias Presence

Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel noted that the latest clashes that erupted inside the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain el-Helweh are a "natural consequence" of the presence of "armed Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias on the Lebanese soil", saying that Hezbollah bears responsibility for the recent events in the camp.

"Hezbollah is responsible for two reasons: the first is that (Hezbollah) prevents the establishing of the state. The second is that Hezbollah is involved in the conflict between the Palestinian factions; it backs some of them in Palestine and coordinates with some others in Lebanon,' Gemayel told Al Hurra Television.

"The state is absent, and Hezbollah and the House Speaker Nabih Berri are making decisions and negotiating in the name of the Lebanese, just like what happened in the border demarcation file," he pointed out.
