Gemayel Addresses Lebanese People on Third Anniversary of Beirut Port Blast

Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel in a message to the Lebanese people on the occasion of the third anniversary of the Beirut port blast:

"Three years have passed since the August 4 blast.

Three years have passed, the victims' blood hasn't dried, and the wound hasn't healed.

Three years have passed and justice is still being deliberately obstructed to protect criminals.

We will forget the scene of the paralyzed capital, nor the scene of its people searching for their loved ones among the rubble.

More than 220 innocent people died, 7,000 were injured, and hundreds of thousands witnessed their homes destroyed, and their memories buried under the rubble.

We will not forget nor forgive, and we will not remain silent until the truth is achieved.

We made a promise to ourselves and the victims' souls, and we won't back down no matter the cost as it is not greater than the cost we paid by losing our comrades, Secretary-General Nizar Najarian, Joe Andoun, Joe Akiki, Tony Barmaki, and Nada Rizkallah.

We promised you and everyone who fell with you that we won't allow this crime to pass without punishment.

We won't let Lebanon become a lawless jungle where accountability is absent.

We will not remain silent about the criminal system that stored the nitrates in the port for the futile wars of Hezbollah and its allies in the region.

This system disregarded the warnings about the deadly substance and left the Lebanese people at risk without taking any action to protect them.

This system also kidnaps the country, paralyzes it, assassinates its institutions, and shackles its judiciary.

It also obstructs justice, threatens the investigating judge through Hezbollah coordination committee head Wafic Safa, hinders judicial appointments through its finance minister, and subjects the investigator to the biggest farce witnessed by the world.

This system arrests the families of victims and drags them into a shameful scene, and protects its supporters from accountability at the expense of the blood of the innocent and the pain of their families.

The airport is not immune to a new disaster as long as Hezbollah and its security and interest network control it.

My appeal to all the friends of Lebanon who raise their voices to support the Lebanese in the face of the crimes committed against them is “Stop the process of seizing Lebanon and its resources so that it becomes a corridor for all kinds of crimes.”

To all countries that demand justice in Lebanon “Save justice from the control of criminals and ensure that they are held accountable.”

An international investigation followed by an international trial is the only way to achieve victory for Beirut, the capital that never dies, and for the blood of the victims and the wounds of the injured.

Lebanon deserves life and its people deserve justice."
