Frem Backs General Aoun for Presidency Despite His Own Candidacy

MP Naamat Frem emphasized the ongoing efforts, both locally and internationally, to secure consensus on Army Commander General Joseph Aoun's candidacy for the presidency. He noted that the current political climate is leaning toward greater alignment for Aoun’s nomination in tomorrow’s parliamentary session.

In an interview with Voice of Lebanon, Frem, despite officially announcing his own candidacy, made it clear that he would support General Aoun’s bid.

"Although I officially ran for president, I will support General Joseph Aoun in tomorrow’s voting session," Frem stated.

However, Frem also acknowledged that electing Aoun may not be feasible. In such an event, he affirmed his commitment to continuing his own electoral campaign.

"If it becomes impossible to elect him [General Aoun], I will proceed with my electoral campaign, based on the 'Project of the Nation of the Human Being,'" he added.
