First Batch of Cholera Vaccine Arrives to Lebanon

Caretaker Health Minister Firass Abiad announced the arrival of the first batch of cholera vaccine to Lebanon, provided by Sanofi Company with the support of French government.

“The vaccine plays a key role in limiting the spread of cholera,” Abiad noted during a press conference in which French Ambassador to Lebanon Anne Grillo has participated.

For her part, French Ambassador Anne Grillo confirmed that 13,440 doses of cholera vaccine had been provided and would be distributed according to the national plan developed by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the relevant international authorities.

“France and European Union intend to help water institutions in Lebanon. However, the project needs funding, as cholera emerged as a result of deteriorating infrastructures,” she explained.
