Ferrari Chairman Gives Huge Update on Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz’s Futures

Though the F1 grid is barely changing from this year to the next, it could look very different in 2025 with no less than 12 drivers out of contract at the end of next season.

This includes both Leclerc and Sainz who occupy two of the most sought after and prestigious seats on the grid.

Despite having gone through many highs and lows with the Scuderia, both drivers have re-affirmed their committement to Ferrari over the past few months, though that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill linking them to rival teams.

Leclerc has been touted as a possible replacement for Sir Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes, while Sainz has emerged as Audi’s top target for when the German manufacture enters the sport in 2026.

But it appears that both will be staying put, with Italian media reporting that Elkann has said: ‘Leclerc and Sainz will certainly stay at Ferrari.’

Though both the Monegasque and the Spaniard had a disappointing season, finishing fifth and seventh in the championship respectively, there were still some highlights including five poles for the former and victory in Singapore for the latter – the only non-Red Bull win of 2023.

‘Ferrari is so special and I wouldn’t change my position with anyone else on the grid,’ Leclerc said of his future in November.

‘I have always been dreaming of being a Formula One driver, and even more so with Ferrari. It’s been many years together and I want to finish the mission with a world championship.’
