U.S. Congress Bill to Help Regulate Cosmetics Industry

A new bill introduced by the U.S. Congress is set to change the way the beauty industry is managed, helping further regulate cosmetics and boost the FDA's role.

The “Personal Care Products Safety Act” will implement transparency on ingredient lists across the entire cosmetic industry, allowing the FDA to have the upper hand in securing safety and clarity in the field.

The bill stipulates new measures in the field, such as authorizing inspections of manufacturing plants, enabling FDA to recall products that are found to be harmful, and requiring the annual testing of at least five ingredients found in personal care products.
