Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that attacks targeting civilian ships in the Black Sea are "unacceptable," urging Russia and Ukraine to act "responsibly."
Despite its relations with both Russia and Ukraine, the attacks on commercial ships in the Black Sea have angered Turkey.
Erdogan said during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Istanbul, "It is clear that attacks on civilian ships and actions that escalate tensions in the Black Sea do not serve anyone's interests."
He continued: "We cannot accept these attacks under any circumstances, regardless of who carries them out or any justifications presented to justify them. We call on all parties to act responsibly in this regard."
Ankara has proposed to Russia and Ukraine to stop attacks on civilian ships, but it says that both warring parties have not taken any steps regarding it.
