Caretaker Energy Minister Raymond Ghajar on Wednesday announced that the first shipment of Iraqi fuel would arrive on the 2^nd week of September and the second shipment would arrive on the 3rd week of September.

“We have signed a contract with Iraq to buy one million tons of black oil and replace it with quantities suitable for our electricity plants," Caretaker Energy Minister Raymond Ghajar told MTV.

“We have planned the tender and an Emirati company will deliver two fuel shipments, the first contains 30,000 tons, and we cannot schedule the date of our cargo, but it will be between September 5 and 10, and the second shipment will arrive between September 10 and 20,” he added.

“Every year, we need 3 million tons of fuel to power electricity at full capacity, and we have obtained from Iraq one million tons of high-sulfur fuel, which we will replace with about 700,000 tons of suitable fuel, which is fair under these circumstances," Ghajar noted.

“"The amount of Iraqi fuel we can get, can give us between 4 and 6 hours of electrical feeding per day in addition to two to three hours of the fuel we have that will run out in September,” he pointed out.

Ghajar said concerning the fuel and diesel for generators that in this case funds must be open by  Banque du Liban, hoping to start negotiations with Egypt, Jordan and Syria in order to reactivate the gas agreement.
