Signs of an economic thaw in Lebanon-Saudi relations have emerged, with Lebanese agricultural exports resuming and technical discussions underway on converting Lebanese ports into hubs for oil and petrochemical exports once stability returns to Syria, sources told Nidaa Al-Watan.
High-level visits by Lebanese officials to Riyadh are expected in February to sign pivotal agreements, including measures that could lift travel restrictions for Saudi and Gulf citizens, a move seen as a major boost for Lebanon’s tourism and investment sectors.
Yet experts caution that these gains remain contingent on Lebanon’s ability to act decisively. Rapid shifts in regional dynamics could once again sideline the country, and delays in addressing the arms control issue or implementing key reforms could be interpreted internationally as a lack of political will.
