Adele 'So Excited' But Also 'Absolutely Terrified' to Host Saturday Night Live

Adele has revealed she is hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time.

The singer, 32, surprised fans with the news in an Instagram post on Sunday night.

She posted: "Bloooooody hellllll I'm so excited about this!! And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!!"

Adele has never presented the US sketch show before, but appeared as a musical guest in October 2008, on the eve of the presidential election and in November 2015.

She said it felt like "full circle", adding: "It'll be almost 12 years to the day that I first appeared on the show, during an election... which went on to break my career in America, so it feels full circle and I just couldn't possibly say no!"

She joins the likes of Drake, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Styles among the singers who have presented the programme.

Her post implied she is continuing to work on new music, after she told guests at a wedding in February to expect a new album in September.

She also responded to a fan's Instagram comment in June telling them to "be patient".

The Rolling In The Deep singer will be joined by the American singer-songwriter H.E.R as a musical guest.

Adele's last album - 25 - released in 2015 - won album of the year at the Grammys.

She split from her ex-husband and father of her only child Simon Konecki last year.
