Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, who is currently on an official visit to Italy, on Friday met with Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who voiced his deep concern over Lebanon's Parliament failure to elect a new Head of State, urging Lebanese officials to speed up the presidential elections to choose the future president.

Parolin also expressed his understanding of Lebanon's concerns regarding the issue of Syrian refugees, particularly in light of the worsening economic crisis.

He promised to provide all possible assistance to open the doors of dialogue with the community of donor countries in a bid to agree on a roadmap in this direction.
