Benjamin Hassan Makes History for Lebanese Tennis at Paris Olympics

In a historic moment for Lebanese tennis, Benjamin Hassan delivered a stunning performance against American Christopher Eubanks, securing a straight-sets victory (6-4, 6-2) in the first round of the Paris Olympics this Sunday afternoon at Roland-Garros.

Hassan's win came swiftly on the heels of his compatriot Hady Habib’s commendable effort against the world No. 3 Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz, who triumphed (6-3, 6-1) in their match.

Ranked 170th globally, Hassan exhibited remarkable technical prowess, overpowering the towering 2.01-meter American, a Wimbledon quarter-finalist currently ranked 105th in the ATP rankings.

The 29-year-old Hassan is scheduled to return to the court later this evening, around 8:30 PM Beirut time, to compete in the doubles tournament alongside Hady Habib. The Lebanese duo, who have also partnered in the Davis Cup, will go head-to-head with the experienced Australian pair of Matthew Ebden and John Peers.
