Audi: The Port Crime is a Stain on Our Country

Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Beirut and its suburbs Archbishop Elias Audi, declared that "Souls tainted by sin are unable to see clearly and are leading the country into abyss, driven by their sins and interests."

"The salvation of the country will only come through souls purified by repentance and remorse. Thus, the mind becomes enlightened, the heart merciful, and thoughts pure, working to find solutions to the problems of this country, rather than working on achieving personal interests and competing for power,” he pointed out.

“Can a country be built without a leader to guide the ruling group and coordinate among its members? Can a country be built without a government that sets and implements reform plans, instead of having a budget that is disastrous for the country, as most MPs agree, and without a fair and just judiciary that does not remain silent on injustice and does not compromise on the truth?” Audi wondered.

"The crime of the port is a shame on our country and on some of our judges, not only because they did not fulfill their duty in revealing the truth and enforcing justice but also because they contributed to obscuring it by hindering the investigation at the behest of politicians who exploit their influence and evade appearing before the investigating judge instead of proving their innocence and setting a good example in respecting the law,” he stressed.

“They also disrespected the lives of the victims and showed no regard for the pain of their families. Likewise, they did not provide justice to those who were injured in their bodies and properties, and they did not receive attention from the state, and some of them continue to suffer until now,” Audi concluded.
