Audi Says World Leaders Have Abandoned Their Humanity

During his Sunday’s sermon, Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Beirut and its suburbs Archbishop Elias Audi stated that world leaders today think that they are immortal and above fair accountability and divine judgment that is to come, just as they are here on this earth.

“Those leaders spread corruption, destruction, and killings throughout the earth, where no place is safe from their evil, because they are greedy for the blessings and transient glory of the earth, forgetting that the most important thing is the salvation of their souls and gaining the crowns of eternal glory,” Audi said.

“The race to arm oneself with what kills the body has become a necessary goal, in contrast to the race to repent and arm oneself with the complete weapon of God in order to stand firm against the plots of Satan,” he noted.

“There is no longer respect for the sanctity of life, for human dignity, nor for a holy land. They wage destructive wars and do not neutralize women, children, temples and hospitals. Most of world leaders have given up their humanity and deafened their ears to the cry of children and the whining of mothers, and they do not listen to the cry of conscience. Weeks have passed and we have not seen any intention to stop the fighting and protect innocent civilians who are killed as if they are not in the image and likeness of God and have the right to a decent life. If the world does not look at justice, there will be no peace nor stability because governance based on injustice does not last," he added.

“There is no safe place left on earth. Justice is no longer self-evident but subject to interests. Therefore, repentance is necessary and fulfilling the commandments of the Lord is necessary so that a person, whoever he is, is ready to go from here in peace “because we have no remaining city here, but we ask for the future,” Audi concluded.
