On March 2, Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel – though the decision for it to do so was almost certainly made by Iran – carrying Lebanon into a new war with Israeli forces. On the same day, Lebanon's government declared Hezbollah's military and security activities illegal. Shortly thereafter, army commander General Rodolphe Haykal made it clear to Prime Minister Nawaf Salam that the military did not have the means to implement the government's decision. A gang operating in the areas of Khaldeh, Naameh, and Damour in Lebanon was discovered by the judicial police unit in Beit El-Dine.
On May 4, 2023, the gang members were arrested in the Saadiyat area, and they were found in possession of a war pistol, a knife, an iron cutter, drugs, money, and a rented car.
The gang members confessed to committing armed robbery and theft in several areas, and one of them was a fugitive with a detention warrant issued against him for drug trafficking.
The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces has circulated their images and requested victims to contact the Beit El-Dine judicial police unit for necessary legal measures.
