Army Dismantles Drug Lab in Baalbek

A small workshop manufacturing various drugs was discovered in a farm located in the village of Hoch Barda, in Baalbeck, the Lebanese Army announced Friday in a statement.

The owners of the farm, two brothers H. A. Z. and A. A. Z., alias "Gebran", were not found on the premises. Large quantities of hashish, machines to produce narcotics, military equipment and war ammunition were seized.

Authorities said they are stepping up efforts to combat drug trafficking in Lebanon and abroad, a practice regularly denounced by the Gulf countries.

On Tuesday, caretaker Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi announced the seizure of more than 5 million Captagon pills in Ghazieh in South Lebanon.
