Army Arrests 10 Individuals Involved in Shooting During a Funeral in Akkar

The Lebanese Army Guidance Directorate issued the following: “On 5/1/2024, following gunfire and armed demonstrations during a burial ceremony in the town of Bebnin - Akkar on 4/28/2024, and after a careful monitoring and control process, army units supported by patrols from the Intelligence Directorate carried out raid operations to the homes of those involved, arrested 10 people, and seized military weapons and a quantity of ammunition.”

The army stressed in its communiqué that armed demonstrations and shooting constitute a security breach and a threat to the lives of innocent people.

The communiqué also confirmed that the Army is in the process of tracking down the shooters, arresting them, and referring them to the competent judiciary.

Finally, the Army called on those concerned to make the required efforts and cooperate with the security services to contribute to preventing practices that undermine security, out of patriotic sentiment, especially in the delicate stage that Lebanon is going through.
