Aoun Discusses Ceasefire Efforts With Vance, Kushner and Qatari Premier

President Joseph Aoun held talks on Monday with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, senior White House adviser Jared Kushner and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on efforts to reinforce the ceasefire in Lebanon and prevent further military escalation.

According to a statement from the Lebanese presidency, the phone call focused on ways to stabilize the ceasefire, halt ongoing Israeli military operations, and advance measures aimed at reducing tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli front.

The discussions also examined practical steps that could be taken to support the ceasefire, including the possibility of establishing a dedicated mechanism or committee tasked with overseeing efforts to preserve the truce and prevent renewed hostilities.

"The discussions focused on efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in Lebanon, halt the Israeli military escalation, and examine the steps required to achieve these objectives," the presidency said.

The statement added that participants reviewed "the possibility of establishing a dedicated task force" to help implement and monitor measures aimed at maintaining stability.
