Aoun Calls on France to Push Israel to Respect Ceasefire

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Wednesday called on France to exert pressure on Israel to stop its violations of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.

During a meeting at the Baabda Palace, Aoun held talks with French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro and General Guillaume Ponchin, deputy head of the ceasefire oversight committee.

According to a statement from the Lebanese presidency, Aoun urged France to support Lebanon’s demand for the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from territories occupied last year. He also pressed Paris to intensify diplomatic efforts to ensure Israel ceases its ceasefire violations and releases Lebanese nationals held in Israeli custody.
