Pope Leo XIV visited Lebanon this week, the third visit by a supreme pontiff to the country since John Paul II in 1997 and Benedict in 2012 (Pope Paul VI stopped very briefly in 1964, on his way to India). The fact that Lebanon is the site of the Pope’s first foreign visit (with Turkey) is significant. The country holds the highest percentage of Christians in the Arab world.

A US Congress Delegation to Lebanon Calls for Speeding up Presidential Elections and Cabinet Formation
Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Abdallah Bou Habib received a delegation from US Congress and Task Force for Lebanon.
Talks focused on political and economic issues. The delegation called for speeding up presidential elections and cabinet formation in a bid to put Lebanon back on the right track.
“Beirut port blast investigation should be accelerated, and electricity supply shall be secured,” the delegation added.
