The US has said it is gathering information on the pager explosions in Lebanon today.

State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller told a regular news briefing the US was not involved in the incidents and did not know who was responsible.

Speaking this evening, he added the US was concerned about any incident that could escalate tensions in the Middle East, and stressed it wanted to see a diplomatic resolution between Israel and Hezbollah.

It was also, the department said, too early to judge how the explosions could impact ongoing ceasefire talks.
