The Lebanese presidency said on Tuesday that U.S. President Donald Trump conveyed his desire to strengthen ties with Lebanon, sending a congratulatory message to President Joseph Aoun on the occasion of the country’s 82nd Independence Day.

Trump’s cable praised Lebanon’s resilience and expressed Washington’s readiness to support the country as it navigates political and economic uncertainty.

“On behalf of the people of the United States, I extend my sincere congratulations to you and the people of Lebanon on the 82nd anniversary of your country's independence,” Trump wrote. “This day celebrates Lebanon’s rich history, vibrant culture, and the enduring spirit of its people.”

He said Lebanon stands “at a historic crossroads, with an opportunity to chart a course toward greater stability and economic prosperity,” and commended what he described as the “courageous decisions” taken by the Lebanese government.

“I look forward to deepening the partnership between the United States and Lebanon as we work together to build a brighter future for the generations to come.”
