This Is Why It Is Illegal to Take Night Pictures of Eiffel Tower

It is illegal to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower's light show at night given that it is technically owned by the artist.

“Distributing photographs of the night-lit Eiffel Tower is a violation of the artist’s copyright,” the fact-checking website Snopes explained.

“The views from the Eiffel Tower are rights-free. Permission and rights must be obtained from the Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel for the publication of photographs of the illuminated Eiffel Tower,” the FAQ section of Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (the company which owns and operates the tower) stated.
