Hezbollah's withdrawal from positions south of the Litani River has not been fully implemented, with some factions continuing to operate under direct Iranian influence, sources familiar with the matter told Al-Anbaa.
According to the sources, "unruly groups" remain active in southern Lebanon, taking orders directly from members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stationed in the area. The party's central leadership, they added, is struggling to rein in these factions, which follow directives from the IRGC rather than Hezbollah's current chain of command.
The question of Hezbollah surrendering its weapons to the Lebanese state has further deepened internal divisions within the group.
"The party's leadership is facing a rift, with some agreeing to hand over heavy and medium weaponry to the Lebanese Army within six months and to politically align the party behind the Lebanese state, while others adamantly reject relinquishing the arms," the sources revealed.
