Suspects Behind Qabr Shamoun Clash Handed Over to Information Branch

Five detainees suspected of being involved in the Qabr Shamoun’s clash are now in the custody of the Internal Security Forces' Information Branch, as reported by local media.

Three of them were handed over by the General Security while the other two, identified by their name initials as F.Aa. and Kh.Gh., were extradited by the Lebanese army.

Yesterday, the Army Command released a statement indicating that the Army Intelligence had seized weapons, hand-grenades, and military ammunition in the detainees’ possession.

Investigations with the suspects are underway under the supervision of the specialized judiciary.

On Sunday, two bodyguards working for State Minister for Refugee Affairs, Saleh Al-Gharib, died in an armed clash with Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) supporters in Aley, while two others were injured.

Tensions erupted as PSP supporters blocked the main road in Kfar Matta to protest a planned visit by Free Patriotic Movement leader Gebran Bassil to the town.
