A Lebanese-Canadian man was arrested on Tuesday for collaborating with Israel to collect information about Hezbollah and an Israeli pilot who went missing in Lebanon 33 years ago, the General Security announced.
The 41-year-old detainee, identified by his name initials as F.G., confessed that he had been recruited in 2013 by a Lebanese man, N.G., who lives in Israel and serves as the head of the Israeli intelligence's 504 network.
The detainee told investigators that he had been tasked with recruiting Lebanese people to infiltrate areas run by Hezbollah and gather information for Israel.
Among the instructions given to the spy was to collect information about Israeli pilot Ron Arad who was captured by the Amal Movement, after ejecting himself from a fighter jet during airstrikes on Palestine Liberation Organization positions near Sidon.
The head of Amal's security, Mustafa Dirani, adbucted Arad before a swap deal was set to take place with Israel. Dirani later defected from Amal and joined Hezbollah's ranks.
