Report: Government Set to Appoint Karim Souaid as Central Bank Governor

Lebanon's Cabinet is expected to appoint Karim Souaid as the new governor of the Central Bank during its upcoming session on Thursday, according to information obtained by Al-Jadeed.

Souaid's name is among a shortlist of three candidates submitted by Finance Minister Yassin Jaber to President Joseph Aoun. The other candidates under consideration are Eddy Gemayel and Jamil Baz, with Jihad Azour notably excluded from the list.

Al-Jadeed also reported that President Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri have reached a consensus on Souaid’s nomination.
