Israel Strikes Iranian Targets in Syria

Israeli jets targeted struck a military position near the Syrian province of Hama early on Saturday, launching missiles from Lebanese airspace.

State-run news agency, SANA, quoted a military source as saying that the airstrike took place at around 2:30 am (23:30 GMT Friday), targeting a military position in the town of Masyaf where several buildings were destroyed.

SANA said Syrian air defenses intercepted some of the missiles.

17 Syrian soldiers were wounded, according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

SANA reported that only six soldiers were injured.

It said the targets were a military academy known as the Accounting School, a missile development centre in a village near Masyaf and a training camp run by Iran-backed forces in Sheikh Ghadban.
