U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance, Yleem Poblete, warned on Tuesday that Iran’s missile program is jeopardizing stability in the Middle East and contributing to an increased risk of a “regional arms race”.
“Washington would aggressively counter Iran’s regional proliferation of ballistic missiles and its unlawful arms transfers,” Poblete told the U.N.-sponsored Conference on Disarmament.
The U.S. official called on “all responsible countries” to abide by the United Nations Security Council resolutions that ban the transfer of missile-related technologies to Iran.
