Rahi Receives Democratic Gathering Delegation
Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi on Tuesday received a delegation from the Democratic Gathering Bloc in Bkerke.
MP Raji Al Saad said that Bkerke was the foundation of the national partnership and the main supporter of the Taif Agreement and the Constitution.
"We agree with Patriarch Rahi on the importance of holding on to the Taif Agreement and national unity, and we reject projects that contradict coexistence. There is no agreement on a specific name for the presidency, but there is a hierarchy of names and the one of the army commander is on top, as it is a result of the meetings that took place between the blocs," Al Saad said on behalf of the Democratic Gathering delegation.
"Patriarch Rahi has not taken a position and has not chosen any name, and no candidate has the support of 65 MPs so far," he added.
