Rahi: Whose Interest Does this Chaos Serve, Who Gets to Decide on War and Peace from Outside the State?

Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi led the funeral service of the Coordinator of Jbeil District within the Lebanese Forces Martyr Pascal Sleiman at Saint George Church in Jbeil.

"We are descendants of courage, and thus, fear does not dwell within us, nor shall it ever. It is crucial to understand the motives behind Pascal Sleiman's assassination and identify the perpetrators," Al-Rahi affirmed.

"Displaced Syrians now pose a threat to Lebanese in their own homes; it's urgent to find a lasting solution, coordinating with state and local authorities, to manage their presence and prevent further clashes and attacks with dire consequences," he emphasized.

"Authorities must address the pressing issue of displacement through legal and procedural channels," he said.

"Lebanon already burdened by crises, cannot afford to shoulder the weight of nearly half its population, a responsibility that major countries seem incapable of handling," Al-Rahi noted.

"Without a President of the Republic, there's chaos in constitutional institutions, ministries, and public administrations, alongside the proliferation of weapons among citizens and foreigners in Lebanon; whose interest does this chaos serve, and who gets to decide on war and peace from outside the state?" he asked.
