Qatar has welcomed the election of General Joseph Aoun, Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, as the new President of Lebanon. In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar extended its congratulations to the Lebanese Parliament for successfully electing a president, bringing an end to the prolonged vacancy at the helm of the Lebanese state.

The Ministry expressed its best wishes to President Joseph Aoun as he takes on his new responsibilities. It also conveyed Qatar's hopes for the continued strengthening of bilateral relations between the two nations, emphasizing the shared bond of brotherhood and mutual interests.

Qatar voiced its optimism that resolving Lebanon’s presidential impasse will pave the way for enhanced security and stability in the country, while enabling its people to achieve their aspirations for progress, development, and prosperity.

Reaffirming its steadfast commitment to Lebanon, the statement underscored Qatar’s unwavering support for the unity, sovereignty, and stability of the Lebanese Republic.

"The State of Qatar will continue to stand by the brotherly people of Lebanon," the Ministry affirmed.
