Qassem Sends Defiant Message to Israel, Hails Berri as Hezbollah's 'Elder Brother'

Hezbollah's Deputy Secretary-General, Naim Qassem, sought to rally support from his followers while reiterating the party's steadfastness in light of escalating conflicts with Israel.

In a televised address made from a concealed location, Qassem voiced support for the political efforts led by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, focusing on achieving a ceasefire, saying that there is no room for discussion on any topic before the conflict ends.

"We have full confidence in the leadership of our elder brother, Mr. Nabih Berri. You were the elder brother in the eyes of the Secretary-General and still the elder brother in the eyes of all of Hezbollah."

Qassem framed the ongoing conflict as a test of resolve, declaring that "this war is a war of who screams first, and we will not scream."

"God willing, you will hear the enemy's screams while we remain steadfast in the field, and we will not beg for a solution."

Highlighting Hezbollah's operational capabilities, Qassem stated that alternatives have been secured in every position within Hezbollah without exception.

"We have no vacant positions, and we are working at full readiness and organization," he said, expressing confidence in the party's ability to elect its new Secretary-General soon.

"If the enemy continues its war," he warned, "the field will determine the outcome, and we are the people of the field."

Addressing Hezbollah's military capabilities despite massive Israeli strikes, he insisted that the group could strike any targets, reiterating that the settlements in northern Israel are well within the range of the group's missiles.

"Our capabilities are intact, and Hezbollah's leadership is cohesive," he asserted.  "We will not allow the return of the residents of northern Israel; rather, we will displace many more."

Qassem confronted skepticism regarding Iran's support for Hezbollah, stating that Tehran decides how and when to support.

The Hezbollah official described the ongoing conflict as part of a broader battle for the liberation of Palestine, saying that the "resistance" is playing a role in reshaping the Middle East.

"All countries are trying to exert pressure on Hezbollah fighters to instill fear and intimidation, but they will not be frightened or intimidated because they are the sons of the martyr leader Hassan Nasrallah," he concluded.
