Pride of Lebanon, MAYYAS to America's Got Talent Finals

The Lebanese dance group Mayyas qualified on Wednesday for the finals of "America's Got Talent” after stunning the judges and the audience with its performance.

Their performances on the talent competition, which was viewed by millions of people globally, sparked pride among Lebanese viewers.

America's Got Talent judges were once more blown away by the Lebanese dance troupe, the Mayyas. Mayyas was one of the 11 artists who battled on Tuesday for two spots in the AGT finals. Winning the latter results in a $1 million top prize and the opportunity to be the headlining act at a show in Las Vegas.

The judges unanimously praised the all-female troupe's captivating, forest-themed routine, and judge Sofia Vergara was so affected by it that she went on stage to hug the dancers.

'Thirty-six women dancing as one," the Colombian-American actress said, describing their routine as "magic".

Earlier this summer, the group dazzled the judges and audience during their audition, earning them a golden buzzer from Vergara who awarded them an immediate pass to the semi-finals.

The group paid tribute to Lebanon in an Instagram post shared before the semifinal began.

"We are dedicating this for Lebanon, its people and the whole wide world," it posted.

Mayyas find out on Wednesday during a results episode that they made it to the finals.

The finals will be broadcasted on 13 September.
