Political Activist Detained in Lebanon Over Criticism of Hezbollah

Lebanon's General Security directorate briefly detained outspoken political activist Makram Rabah on Monday following interrogation regarding an interview where he criticized Hezbollah and discussed alleged arms storage and manufacturing sites associated with the group. Rabah was reportedly held after refusing to surrender his cellphone.

Upon his release, Rabah accused the Military Court of being a tool to pressure activists opposed to Hezbollah, emphasizing his right to freedom of expression under the Lebanese constitution. He also criticized the handling of the investigation into the assassination of Lokman Slim, a close friend of his.

In a recent interview, Rabah alleged that Hezbollah uses Syria's Qalamoun region near the Lebanese border for manufacturing and storing rockets, providing GPS coordinates that he claimed could be found using Google Maps.
