Poland has called for an international investigation into the deaths of seven aid workers, including a Polish citizen, during an Israeli air strike on Gaza on Monday.
"We demand an international investigation into the case, (and) we demand that Poland also participate in the investigation," Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz was quoted as saying by the state-run PAP news agency Thursday evening.
In line with President Andrzej Duda's remarks, he emphasized that the Polish government expects Israel to compensate the victims' families.
Apology, compensation, and clarification are all measures of decency, Kosiniak-Kamysz stressed.
In a related development, Israeli Ambassador to Poland Yakov Livne was summoned to the Foreign Ministry for remarks about the killing and accusations of widespread antisemitism in Poland, the news agency reported.
Earlier on Thursday, Polish President Andrej Duda said the Israeli envoy in Warsaw has tried to jeopardize relations with Tel Aviv due to his attitude and remarks regarding Israel's killing of a Polish aid worker in Gaza.
Damian Sobol, a volunteer for the World Central Kitchen charity in Gaza, was killed Monday along with six others when an Israeli airstrike hit the convoy he was traveling in.
