Over 30 Israeli Airstrikes Hit Beirut’s Southern Suburbs in Escalating Conflict

In a series of intense airstrikes, Israeli warplanes targeted areas in Beirut's southern suburbs, marking one of the most violent nights since the escalation of hostilities. The strikes resumed after a tense morning lull, with flames still rising from multiple locations, particularly between Laylaki and Mar Mikhael. Residents of Beirut and Mount Lebanon reported hearing the reverberations of the strikes, as a fiery ring illuminated the sky over the southern suburbs.

Southern Suburbs Bombarded with Over 30 Airstrikes

According to Lebanon's National News Agency, more than 30 airstrikes hit the southern suburbs of Beirut. Israeli warplanes targeted the Total gas station along the airport road, a building on Barjawi Street in Ghobeiry, as well as several other key areas including Sfeir, Burj al-Barajneh, Choueifat, and the American neighborhood in Hadath. Fires erupted in numerous locations, creating scenes of devastation.

Artillery and Drone Activity in Southern Lebanon and Bekaa

Simultaneously, Israeli artillery targeted several towns across southern Lebanon, including Naqoura, Jabal al-Labuna, and Qleiaa. Israeli drones were reported flying over the Hermel regions as well as villages in Tyre and Bint Jbeil districts. The shelling continued relentlessly in the Marjayoun district, where Kfarkila and the outskirts of Burj al-Muluk and Khiyam were bombarded. Israeli planes also conducted raids on Khiyam and Kfarkila.

The previous night, Israeli warplanes launched a series of air raids after midnight, targeting Jebchit and the outskirts of Zawtar and Mifdoun in the Nabatiyeh district. The strikes caused significant destruction, with the damage in Mifdoun becoming fully visible at dawn.

Hezbollah Claims Retaliatory Attacks

In response to the Israeli attacks, Hezbollah released a series of statements claiming responsibility for several operations:
- A drone attack targeting the Samson Base, which is described as a command and regional preparation center.
- Artillery shelling of Israeli soldiers at the Bayad site in Blida.
- Two artillery strikes on Israeli soldiers attempting to infiltrate the Khillet Shu'ayb area in Blida, followed by a missile barrage as the Israeli forces attempted to evacuate their wounded and dead.

Residents Flee Amid Violence

The continuous bombardment forced many residents to flee the Sabra area, particularly after the massive airstrikes in Ghobeiry. The scale of the destruction has left many homeless, while the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate.

One of the most severe strikes hit a three-story building in Mifdoun, where the morning light revealed extensive damage. The airstrikes and shelling have severely strained Lebanon’s already fragile infrastructure, leaving many areas in ruins and exacerbating the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
