Diesel prices at fuel stations in Europe have reached a new record level, with the average weekly price hitting €2.24 per liter, an increase of one cent from the previous week's record, according to a compilation of national data published by the European Commission on Thursday.

Record average prices were recorded in twelve of the twenty-seven member states, including Italy, Poland, Belgium, and Romania, based on an analysis conducted by Agence France-Presse of the data sent by national authorities to Brussels weekly since 2005.
