Four Lebanese Men Killed in High-Speed Crash in California

Four Lebanese nationals were killed in a car crash in California on Wednesday, the National News Agency reported.

The accident happened when the four young men, all hailing from the southern town of Yarouk, hit a freeway sign pole were on their way back from suhoor (the meal consumed early in the morning by Muslims before fasting during Ramadan).

The victims have been identified as Hussein Saleh, Hussein Saab, Hussein Ghsham and Hussein Ayyoub.

ABC News reported that a witness had told the California Highway Patrol that the car's driver had been racing with another vehicle before the collision.

"Los Angeles County firefighters removed at least one body from the BMW's mangled wreckage, which ended up wrapped around the sign pole," the news outlet noted.

"The force of the impact so severe that the car's engine was ejected from the vehicle and ended up in a nearby ditch."
