Minister of Education Extends School, University Closures

Lebanon's Minister of Education, Abbas Halabi, announced the extension of school closures in several regions of the country due to the ongoing security situation. This decision affects both public and private educational institutions, including schools, vocational institutes, and universities, across several key areas.

In a statement, Halabi confirmed that schools and other educational establishments nationwide will remain closed until the end of this week. This precaution comes as the security situation in these regions remains precarious.

The closures will also apply to the Lebanese University and private higher education institutions nationwide, with all classes suspended until the end of the week.

Halabi called on all educational and university administrators to remain attentive to the ministry's updates and to follow its directives regarding the situation.

The extension of closures has raised concerns among students and parents regarding the potential disruption of the academic calendar. However, the ministry stressed that safety remains the top priority, and any decisions regarding reopening will be made in accordance with the evolving situation.
