Mikati: Constitution Stipulates that Cabinet Should Assume Presidential Powers

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati explained that the current government was able to fully carry out its duties since constitutional articles stipulated that caretaker cabinet shall assume President’s powers throughout his absence.

“No solution except by electing a new president,” Mikati stressed in an interview via Arab TV.

“I am not a fan of provocations or quarrels with anyone. We did not sign an agreement with the enemy, and now I am concerned in how to secure electricity to the Lebanese people,” he added.
