Israel said Friday that its air force had struck crossings along the Lebanon-Syria border allegedly used by Hezbollah to smuggle weapons into Lebanon. The Israeli military said the strikes targeted "crossing points in the area of the Lebanon-Syria border" used by the group.

The Salam government’s cabinet statement, which must be approved by parliament later this week, is another sign that much has changed in the way Hezbollah is addressing Lebanon’s new realities. Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati explained that the current government was able to fully carry out its duties since constitutional articles stipulated that caretaker cabinet shall assume President’s powers throughout his absence.
“No solution except by electing a new president,” Mikati stressed in an interview via Arab TV.
“I am not a fan of provocations or quarrels with anyone. We did not sign an agreement with the enemy, and now I am concerned in how to secure electricity to the Lebanese people,” he added.
