Maronite Patriarch Urges Adherence to President's Inaugural Speech to Facilitate Government Formation

Maronite Patriarch Bechara al-Rahi called on Lebanon’s political leaders to set aside personal interests that threaten the country’s constitutional framework and national coexistence. He warned that the failure to implement the Taif Agreement has led to a decline in political life and widespread dysfunction in governance.

Speaking during his Sunday Mass sermon in Bkerke, al-Rahi criticized those obstructing the formation of a government, urging them to adhere to the commitments outlined in President Joseph Aoun's inaugural address.

"Those responsible for the government deadlock must refer to the principles stated in the inaugural address," the patriarch said, emphasizing the urgent need to restore institutional order and prevent further political and economic deterioration.
