After his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, MP Fouad Makhzoumi stated that Bkerke represents the primary reference for consolidating the position of sovereignty and the national stance.

“There is no doubt that we are in a state of war through the targeting of the South, and it is necessary to declare a state of emergency and directly hand over the South to the Lebanese army," Makhzoumi noted.

He also called for preventing violations of UNSC Resolution 1701, confirming that the presidential vacuum has a significant impact on the ongoing events.

Makhzoumi called for the protection of the Lebanese army saying: “We insist on extending the term of the army commander and delaying his retirement, and keeping Lebanon under international legitimacy by implementing international resolutions."

"Today, we will not accept being dragged into a war that we are far from," he added.
