Israel is reportedly preparing for a major ground invasion of Lebanon, with plans to seize the entire area south of the Litani River and dismantle Hezbollah’s military infrastructure. Maronite Patriarch Bechara al-Rahi on Sunday called the new government to adopt frankness and exert effort towards reforming the lives of the Lebanese people, saying that it should be free from the parties who want to control the country's decision and propose neutrality.
During Sunday’s sermon, Al-Rahi condemned those who claim sovereignty and support legitimacy while doing the opposite of their claims.
"It is not acceptable to claim sovereignty, and the illegal crossings are now legal, and it is not permissible to claim legitimacy.
"The political forces must ease the tension and resort to so as to save Lebanon. Ranks should be unified to restore sovereignty,” he said.
