Lebanese ministers tasked with designing a roadmap to save the country from economic collapse have agreed on an initial draft, Minister of Information George Kordahi said on Wednesday.
The Cabinet will meet at the presidential palace in Baabda, a Beirut suburb, on Thursday to sign the ministerial statement.
Once parliament approves it, the government will be officially sworn in, kick-starting a rescue plan after 13 months of political vacuum.
“There are no disagreements between the ministers, they have agreed on the statement,” Kordahi said, after a third meeting of the ministerial committee in charge of writing up the agenda.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati formed a government last week after wrangling between political forces for ministerial shares.
The government has a month to submit its plan, a presidential spokesman said.
This step is seen as a formality because Lebanon's major political players, including parliament speaker Nabih Berri, picked the new ministers.
