Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced on Friday that the Cabinet will meet Saturday ending a deadlock which lasted for five weeks over the Qabr Shmoun crisis.
“From now on, we hope to open a new chapter that regards the citizen’s best interest,” Hariri stated following the reconciliation meeting chaired by President Michel Aoun, encompassing the two main Druze rival parties Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat, and Lebanese Democratic Party leader Talal Arslan along with the Premier and the Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri at the Baabda Palace.
“The Cabinet will take an apt decision in view of the results of the investigation in the Qabr Shmoun incident,” Hariri noted.
As for the Financial and Economic meeting, PM Hariri voiced optimism to the outcome and the positive political atmosphere of the meeting, paving the way for a fresh regular institutional work.
He stressed on the need to safeguard the political stability and to put an end to conflicts, pledging to maintain the stability of the Lebanese pound and to take reformist steps to revive the economy.
In his turn, the Speaker described the meeting to reporters as “an achievement.”
