The general director of higher education at the Education Ministry was arrested Tuesday night for his suspected involvement in the sale of fake university degrees, The Daily Star newspaper reported.

The newspaper cited a judicial source as revealing that Ahmad al-Jammal has been detained following investigations showing that he was part of a cash-for-degrees scheme involving several universities.
