Lebanon to Issue LBP 1 Million Bill Soon

Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported, “The Ministers’ Council is supposed to convene this Tuesday afternoon, with on its agenda an accelerated draft bill to amend two articles of the Monetary and Credit law. This issue raised many concerns among the economic and public circles, given the monetary file’s sensitivity, especially since the Lebanese currency continues to collapse, and no comprehensive rescue plan based on an IMF final agreement is approved.”

In the context, the newspaper quoted concerned banking and financial sources, “The articles’ amendment will affect the cash issuance process, which indicates that the government is about to propose a draft bill to issue new banknotes categories, most likely with a value of LBP 500,000, and LBP 1 million.”
